Autumn Fair at Somerset Hall

On the the 10th of September I had a stall at the Autumn Fair in Somerset Hall, Portishead. This was the first time I had done a fair in the UK and I was really curious to see how it would turn out. I had booked two tables so that I could display some product and have a table for people to make a quick card.

I had brought my 13 year old son to help me set up and get some work experience. He's taking GCSE Business Studies so I thought this would be a good opportunity to see how different people promote their business and products. He was up for the challenge and did a great job engaging with people at our stall.

It was not as busy as expected, maybe because of the passing of the much loved Queen Elizabeth (who we paid our respects to with a 2 minute silence).

Much to my surprise, nobody wanted to make a card. So I ended up get crafty myself, decorating the teacup my husband had brought me. Still, we met a good few local crafters who were excited to hear that I was offering adult papercrafting workshops in Portishead. They were particularly interested in the Men's Cards Workshop planned for the 23rd of October. Lots of them put their names down on the mailing list so I'm looking forward to meeting them all again in October.

All in all, I'd say it was a positive experience and I will definitely do one again the future. Not every month but maybe 2/3 times a year to let people know about my workshops.

Video: What's in my Stampin' Up! Starter Kit

I made a quick video while I opened my Stampin' Up! Starter Kit. The Starter Kit is what you purchase to become a demonstrator. In the UK it costs £99 and you get £130 worth of product of your choice. You also get lots of Business Supplies: catalogues, flyers and order forms. And during Sale-A-Bration you also get the Making Plans Planner, Stamp Set and 3 Notebooks. It is quite something!

When you sign up you get to pick your own products to the value of £130. It's very important to choose items that you absolutely love and know you will use. I've been a demonstrator before and I had a good idea of what to choose. It can require a bit of calculating to get as close to the £ 130 as you can because you can't go over it, not even by a penny!

I chose the entire Hues of Happiness Suite, which includes stamps, dies, paper and glossy Dots in matching colours. Then I added to that some Fresh Freesia Ribbon, Gorgeous Grape Ink Pad, Re-Inker and Cardstock, Copper Foil Sheet, Brushed Metallic Dots (I accidentally ordered 2 packs!) and a pack of 5 colours of Baker's Twine. The whole box is just bringing me so much joy and I can't wait to get crafting with it.

If you know who you're going to sign up with you can always ask them to help you with it. Make sure you have their name ready to fill in when you sign up. And remember, anyone over 18 can sign up, you don't have to become an active demonstrator that hosts workshops and sells. There's a minimum quarterly sales requirement you need to meet to stay a demonstrator but if you don't make it you just stop being a demonstrator and you can go back to being a customer again.

So if that feels like something you'd like to do you can sign up here:

I'd love to have you on my team!

New 2022 Workshop: Hues of Happiness on the 4th of September

Hello everyone, I'm back!

I've joined Stampin' Up! again. I've been thinking about it for a while and when I saw this summer's Sale-A-Bration joining offer I couldn't resist any longer. On top of a great deal (£130 of product for just £99 incl. shipping and a Business Starter Set) you now also get the Making Plans Planner Kit, 3 Notebooks and Stamp Set for free. And who doesn't love a cute planner? I know I do.

So as soon as it came in, I started planning my first workshop: Sunday September 4th from 10.00 - 12.30 we'll be creating 2 cards and a decorated frame with the Hues of Happiness Suite. This suite is just the perfect, happy, all-rounder with foliage and blooms in bright rainbow colours. There's a versatile stamp set with matching dies as well as beautiful 12 x 12 patterned papers. I ordered this collection in my Starter Kit and it is stunning!

I've found a new location to hold my events, it's one of my favourite places in Portishead: Shanicatti Shakes. They look like a quirky English tearoom with porcelain tea cups and tea pots with cosies. They do amazing cakes and of course...shakes:-) I'm so chuffed that they were up for me holding events at their tearoom.

Send me an email at sgortzak@yahoo.co.uk if you'd like to join us. Costs are £ 20 incl. materials and drinks. You are encouraged to bring your own craft tools but don't worry if you haven't got any, there will be tools to use. All abilities are welcome: beginner, enthusiast and paper addicts, I've got you covered:-)

If you'd like to order the whole product suite before the workshop than the workshop is FREE for you. If you buy it after the workshop you'll get a credit towards another workshop.

Hope to see you there!
