Fab Crop in Portishead this Saturday

Hello lovely crafty friends,

How are you all? Surviving the Heatwave? Is your craft room a cool space to hide from the heat during the day or are you loving this proper summer and you're soaking up every ray of sunshine? I'm somewhere in the middle. My craft space is a good temperature at night and I love going there for a crafty fix after a hot day working in my garden.

This Saturday I joined Lillian Bowers Lil' Crafty Crop at Portishead Youth Centre again. So exciting to have a regular creative session in my own town. It's a great space and with easy parking right next door (very important when you're bringing half your craft room with you!) and a friendly crowd of new and familiar faces.

I had offered to do another Scrapbook Taster session and had two participants again. We worked with the Exploring Nature Scrapbooking Workshop Kit that makes 3 layouts with an outdoorsy theme. We first cut all the paper and prepped the embellishments and then used the instructions in the kit to put our pages together. I brought some photos of my son's camping trip which I thought fitted quite well with the theme of the kit.

Claire and Steph made the other two double page layouts from the kit and Lillian used my layout as inspiration for her own using different papers from the Moonlit Flora Suite, a gorgeous product suite with striking green foliage on a dark background. And her layout looks amazing, I love how she distressed the papers:

Lil's crop is every last Saturday of the month (except Nov/Dec) from 10.00 - 14.00, £15, the next ones are on:
29th August.
26th September
31st October
6th December

Look for Lil' Crafty Crop on Facebook. You can bring anything crafty, doesn't have to be just paper crafts. Many are paper crafters but we also had someone on a sewing machine, model building, diamond painting and stitching.

I'll be attending all of them with a Scrapbook Taster Session. Keep an eye on your inbox for new events and follow me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/getstampingwithsonja/

Kettle & Cards Kitchen Table Sessions
I'm also starting up my papercrafting workshops again but in a smaller set-up to start with. I'm looking at doing small group sessions (4 people) at my Kitchen Table once a half-term, 6-7 times a week. The focus and structure would be much the same as when we were at the Beacon Hub with 3 projects per session of about 2.5 hrs on a Saturday morning 10.00 - 12.30. Materials, instructions, coffee and tea included. If this is something you'd like to attend please let me know: sgortzak@yahoo.co.uk.

The first session will be October 10th and has a Christmas Focus. Costs will be £20 or free with a £25 order between now and the workshop. I'm doing a Group Order this Tuesday, see details below.

The one after that is 14th of November, theme TBD

Lots of love,

Sonja

Using the catalogue as inspiration

 Do you recognise this?

You've ordered some really gorgeous craft supplies and are eagerly awaiting their arrival. When they arrive you're blown away by their beauty but also a little stumped on what you will do with them.  Those 12" x 12" patterned papers are stunning but they don't immediately give you inspiration on what to make with them.

In my latest YouTube video I make really quick cards with a very limited number of supplies. I'm not even stamping (gasp!:-).

Let me know what you think? Could you pick out a few sheets of patterned paper, some basic cardstock and sentiments and then use your catalogue to create a card quickly?

We have a lovely, friendly, Facebook community where we share what we make. We'd love you to join us to show what you've made.

Warmest regards,

Sonja

Make sure you allow me to contact you and I will send you handmade card and a little gift as a thank you for your order.
